Interlaken, Switzerland

The western side of Interlaken opens up toward Lake Thun and the Simmental Valley. Here you find wide green meadows, peaceful walking trails, and a more relaxed vibe. Interlaken West is often quieter, with beautiful views of the lake and easy access to charming villages like Spiez and Thun. It feels more laid-back and perfect for slow travel through valleys surrounded by rolling hills.

Interlaken East

The eastern side faces Lake Brienz and leads toward the dramatic Lauterbrunnen Valley, famous for its towering cliffs and waterfalls. This side is more vibrant, filled with adventure sports, boat rides, and access to the mountain railways heading up to Grindelwald, Jungfrau, and Harder Kulm. The valleys here are deeper, steeper, and give you that classic “Swiss postcard” view with alpine peaks rising above.
